Churashima Heart Land

We paid just under 30,000 yen since it was high season. The room looked much as the owner had shown us, and the Hawaiian theme was cute. It was thoroughly cleaned. There were four beds and a large cage, which seemed suitable for medium-sized dogs. Our dog wore a belly band throughout, but still seemed to want to mark three spots. I got the impression that dogs had used the area by the cage, where several mats were laid out, as a bathroom. There were beach chairs on the roof, though we didn’t use them. A BBQ setup was available, but nearby restaurants and a Lawson meant we didn’t need it. The listing said they might ask to see a dog’s vaccination certificate, but nobody asked at all. There were a lot of mosquitoes, and the entrance smelled strongly of insect repellent. For some reason, the outdoor lights kept flashing at night. The emergency exit light in the sleeping area stayed on and couldn’t be switched off, so we couldn’t sleep. A note on the fridge said to throw away all burnable rubbish at the supermarket or convenience store where it was bought, which I found unacceptable. While we were already on our way, I got a call saying the Google Maps address was different from the actual address. I changed the route as we went, but wondered why they couldn’t have told me that morning. The staff response felt inadequate.
