We were the only guests, which worked well with our three boys. The landlady was friendly and helpful, and the B&B itself is in a Japanese-style home, at least by our European standards. We came in July, in the Japanese heat, and somehow decided to cycle with the kids across several islands. The B&B is on the first island. If you arrive by train, take the boat, which takes 5 minutes, then walk another 2 minutes.
Sono was very accommodating, and everyone in the quiet neighborhood was kind. The rooms are spacious, with AC and heaters, and it was a beautiful place to get away from the bustle of bigger cities. The location is great, though you'll need to take a passenger ferry. It's about a 3-minute walk from onomichi station, runs back and forth, takes around 6 minutes each way, and costs 100 yen per direction.
The breakfast deserves the five stars, it was delicious and a perfect start to the bike trail. The neighborhood was quiet, the room comfortable, and I had a nice rest.
The hosts are perfect. I've stayed here twice and plan to come back next time.
