Shinwa Onomichi Flats

Really enjoyed it.

We found the apartment clean and comfortable, with thoughtful touches like the air conditioning already on when we arrived and Imabari towels. There are dishes and detergent in the kitchen, and two bunk beds in the room. For a family, it felt much roomier than a hotel. Check-in is fully contactless, and parking is available for 1000 yen, which you leave in the room. It's a little over one taxi meter from Onomichi Station, so having a car makes it convenient to park and head into Onomichi for drinks. The DiDi app worked for taxis, and the discounts made the ride a good deal. I'd recommend staying here in Onomichi.

I booked this affordable, clean Airbnb in Onomichi so I could make dinner with vegetables I'd bought there. The bed was soft, and the room had been cleaned very carefully. As of August 2021, it had most of the tableware you'd need, including wine glasses and dishes. There were no condiments, perhaps because of infection control measures, so pick up everything from oil to salt before you arrive.

I liked being able to come in without going through reception, and the roomy, very clean space felt comfortable, more like home than a hotel. There's no convenience store nearby, so I bought ingredients at a supermarket on the way from Onomichi Station and walked over. Cooking let me eat what I wanted, whenever I wanted, without much hassle. I could keep my usual home routine while still enjoying a lovely room and a proper vacation feeling. Thank you 💕
