Hiyori Flex Osaka Dotonbori Hotel

The room had a lovely view, and the hotel has a small pantry where you can eat breakfast or other meals. We used it for takeout from a nearby ramen shop that had long waits for dining in. It’s also convenient for reaching the river where the "Glico Man" is. We needed a last-minute booking after deciding against our first hotel because of its bathroom’s high steps. The receptionist kindly let us look at an empty room to check the bathroom, and we quickly chose to stay here instead. Luckily, there was a room free for the next day. I’d recommend it for the helpful staff and good amenities!

The front desk can provide anything you might be missing. The shower and bathtub were well supplied, and the rooms were tidy with good AC, which matters to us as Americans, haha. The staff are friendly, and it’s easy to get to in a great spot in town.

The first receptionist was kind and friendly, explained the area and services, and even gave us a welcome gift. My friend and I had booked one night, paying 400 tax, 200 each. I decided to book three more nights on my own, and that was a mistake. The receptionists this time seemed clueless and unfriendly, not suited to a hotel that calls itself 4 star. I was charged 800 for 3 nights tax. When I asked why, since it had been 200, they just stared at me. They also gave me the wrong room and offered little explanation or engagement beyond taking the tax. I regret rebooking. The hotel should treat people well no matter who’s on reception, and be clear about charges, however small. Poor service. Avoid it or keep your receipts.

Smoke filled our floor and rooms after a major fire broke out almost next door to the hotel. The alarm went off very late, staff gave no guidance, and guests had to evacuate in a panic on their own. The stairwell was smoky too, and the whole response felt dangerous and badly handled. Our room and belongings smelled strongly of smoke afterward, yet we were expected to come back later as if nothing had happened. We felt completely unsafe, so we had no choice but to check out early and arrange another hotel ourselves. An absolutely terrible and disturbing experience, with extremely poor emergency handling.
