The beds and pillows at IM Guest House are firm, and I didn’t sleep as well as I had at the hostels in Kyoto and Tokyo. Still, I’m giving it 5 stars because it was close to the cheapest option and had better reviews than the very cheapest place. Nami is what earns those glowing reviews, including mine. Since I don’t know Japanese, I appreciated that she speaks English. She makes breafkast with toast, spreads, a hardboiled egg, and tea or coffee, gives recommendations, teaches you Japanese, and really cares about giving guests a good experience. Nami is so sweet and made my time in Osaka better. The shared breakfasts bring everyone together and make it easy to meet other travelers. I met a couple from Switzerland there, heard their amazing stories, and they even invited me to visit them. Shout out to Markus and Joanne, I hope to visit!

I’m glad our previous place canceled, since it brought us here. The hosts were incredible, accommodating, and gave us the best service. Nami was amazing. The room and bathroom were clean, and we felt right at home. It’s close to the stations, with a market just a 4-minute walk away. I’d absolutely recommend it.

Nami, the host, is cheerful and very helpful, and her English is very good. The hostel is clean and makes for a nice, cheap stay. It’s near the Korean shops and not far from Momodani station.

The breakfasts were delicious and brought everyone together each morning, and the whole place had a cozy, welcoming feel. Staying at IM Guest House felt like being in a home full of laughter, warmth, and connection. Nami is what made it unforgettable. Her kind, joyful energy lights up the house, and she has a way of helping strangers become friends. This was a place to connect and really feel at home, not just somewhere to sleep. Thank you, Nami, for such a heartwarming part of my travels. I’ll keep those memories and smiles with me, and I’m sure I’ll return.

Getting hold of the host when I arrived was really hard. Even though I’d sent my arrival time beforehand, I waited about 90 minutes until another guest with a Japanese phone number could call her and get her to come. The room felt old and unclean, smelled strongly of mould, and had bugs in it. There was also a slug in the bathroom. I left early to find somewhere else to stay and got no refund. Not a good experience.
