We wanted a genuine Japanese experience, so the domestic-tourist focus and out-of-the-way location suited us. The dinners looked beautiful, though they were challenging for our Aussie tastes. The beds were comfortable, there was an open fire, and the hotel was right on the slopes. I was surprised by how incredible the two onsen options were.

The staff were hospitable and well-mannered. This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, and it’s worth spending a few nights here! I heard on the news that a big earthquake hit North-East Japan a few days ago. Stay safe, guys. God bless, and best wishes from Taiwan.

The room was tidy and clean, and you can go straight out the back door to the ski area. The hotel offers free coffee from 10 to 17, which was a nice touch. You can see part of the ski field from the hot spring.
