The host couple were kind and helpful, and the large shared bath was great. From the traditional Japanese-style room, there’s an amazing view of Mt. Fuji. The master of the guest hotel has also taken beautiful photos of Mt. Fuji over more than 40 years, and you can enjoy looking through them.

Mr Daiichi Omori-san is a superb photographer, and all the pictures here are his. He also told us exactly where to go for the best Mt Fuji shots. Thanks to his tips, we got a whole day of wonderful views from places we might have skipped while driving around the 5 lakes. The inn is clean and friendly, and Mt Fuji is visible from our room. Oshino Hakkai Village is within walking distance, and if you’re driving, you can park here and save Y300 on parking around the village.

Both the meals and the bath were excellent. I’d worried at first that the room didn’t have its own toilet or bath, but it turned out not to be a big problem. As for the rooms advertised with a Mount Fuji view, you only get a glimpse of the very top, so I didn’t think the extra charge was worth it.

We had a really pleasant, luxurious time, and the large hall was spacious enough for all six of us. The children and adults were both delighted! The shared areas, including the whole Kannai area, were clean. They were attentive when they noticed our child might be getting overheated in the bath, and both owners were warm and considerate. I’m so glad we came. Thank you for all your help! 😊
