Keikoku Bettei Mochinoki

It's a calm, relaxing place for a night of traditional Japanese dining and bathing, with beautiful rooms, hot spring baths, and food. The staff provided wonderful service. Getting here takes a bit of a drive because it's in the middle of nowhere, but I thought it was worth it. Full or partial body massages are available, along with free massage chairs. Book ahead and save for it.

The food is top class, and the staff are amazing. It's a wonderful retreat beside a beautiful river.

I found this place after nearly giving up on staying in the city center. I suddenly decided to stay, but everywhere I looked was strict about solo diners and had exorbitant prices. Here, solo guests are welcome and the price is reasonable. I had no expectations, but the stay exceeded them. The staff, especially the people serving food, were smiling, friendly, and welcoming. The food was clearly well prepared and delicious. They cook rice at the table in a small pot for one, and the sweet potato rice was great. I also really liked the beef sukiyaki. The lobby lounge drink bar was nice, and the location in Yoro Valley makes it a lovely place to experience nature. I went to the waterfall early in the morning and saw a rare kingfisher, as well as a bullfinch. The valley is full of nature and great for bird watching. They've clearly put effort into lots of things, though the beds were hard and uncomfortable. The spring water quality listing was funny, since there wasn't a quality name at all, and I'd never seen that before. I don't really know what the water quality is, but being able to look over the valley and feel close to nature was relaxing. There's also a small sauna. As a sauna fan, I'd like an outdoor bathing chair with a backrest. Sorry to complain, but I have to tell the truth.

The open-air hot spring was pleasant and had a great view. I stayed with a relative visiting from the countryside, and they were very satisfied. I brought my child too, and the staff were kind. They even set up a simple baby bed in the dining area, so it felt like a safe hotel for families with children. The room seemed a little old, and there were spider webs in a few places.
