Hotel Binario Umeda

We were in Japan for a family holiday in December 2023, and this was our least favorite hotel booked through our travel agent. It felt too far from everything, including the train station and good restaurants. The rooms were very small, and service was just okay. Breakfast was okay too, though my kids enjoyed having soft-serve ice cream in the morning.

The room was spacious even with an extra bed, and the beds were comfortable. The shower had good water pressure, and there were enough charging ports. They also provide free amenities to pick up if needed, including a toothbrush, shaver, cotton pad, and 3-in-1 coffee, plus pajamas. The location was okay, with a convenience store nearby and Nakatsu station only a five-minute walk away. Staff were respectful and helpful. I recommend staying here!

The rooms are new and clean, though a bit small like other hotels in Japan. Staff were helpful and nice. I wondered why they offered earplugs at check-in, then found out: rooms facing the street are directly opposite a fire station. You need the earplugs for anything like normal sleep, or you’ll be responding along with the firefighters all night.

The amenities were perfect, and the staff tried to help despite speaking limited English. The location was okay. Our first room smelled really bad, so we complained. At first they said no other room was available, but once we showed that the room wasn’t suitable to stay in, a new one suddenly became available for an extra ¥4,000 iens. We paid, and the replacement room had no smell problem, but it wasn’t the same setup: it had two single beds instead of one bed. The room was okay otherwise. Maybe we were just unlucky, but we have no plans to return.
