The host was communicative and helpful when I asked for something, and the kitchen seemed to have everything you could need. But I came in winter and the whole house was freezing. Maybe it was because I hadn't given an arrival time, but I expected some heating to be on if guests were expected. The common space was bizarre, with a tiny TV in the corner and a table in the middle that really ought to be a kotatsu. My private room was relatively spacious. Parking was down the street and cost 700 yen a day. The washing machine was a cheap drum model, with no instructions or translation, and I couldn't see how clothes would dry in a house that cold. I hoped for a nice common area and a chance to meet people by staying in a guest house instead of a hotel, but it was empty. It could be lovely with some thoughtful touches, but it felt like an empty doll house. All the lights were bright fluorescent white. A floodlight in the stairwell blinds you when you walk down, and because it's motion triggered, you can't opt out. The switch in my room could cycle between bright, medium, and nightlight, but I only figured out by accident that it works by toggling the switch on and off at different speeds. There were no instructions. I just wanted a cozy lamp. Good for one night. Two is pushing it.

It's a basic place in a very central location. The showers get nice and hot, but there's no parking, though you can find coin parking not too far away. In the middle of winter, the shared living room heater was set to 12 degree C, and a notice said guests couldn't change the temperature. That's crazy, it's much too cold. The owner should turn it up to at least 17 degree C. Fine if all you need is a bed for the night.
The shared kitchen was very convenient and had almost everything you'd need. But when I entered the Japanese-style room I'd booked, there was a musty smell and, despite the intense heat, no air conditioning. What? The booking site said all rooms had it. There were also security cameras in the hallway and living room. I'd checked reviews on several websites before booking, and they had seemed pretty good.
If you want somewhere simple and quiet, this guesthouse with several rooms is a good fit. There's also a washing machine, which costs 200 yen.
When we arrived, they suddenly told us our booked triple room had to be changed to bunk beds. The room only had a fan, and there was no airflow at the top bunk, so we had to go downstairs and squeeze in with a friend, with two of us sleeping in a single bed. I was furious. The landlady is from mainland China, so mainland families stay here too. During our visit, they treated nearly the whole first-floor common area as their own home, leaving things around, making loud noises, and even wearing outdoor slippers into the rooms, which made the floors extremely dirty. I know the other guests were responsible for that, but the landlady showed a shocking lack of consideration.
