HUGH B.
I really like this restaurant and ended up visiting twice, even though it gets crowded with tourists. The prices are reasonable, though I’d be careful with pricier orders like a box of uni. The food is generally good, but the sashimi seemed a little frozen inside. The grilled fish displayed out front looked more for show, and didn’t taste as good as I expected. The grilled fish ordered from the menu was much better. It may be awkward to get to because of the location, but it’s close to the aquarium, so visiting isn’t too difficult. I think it’s one of Otaru’s best local seafood restaurants. The staff don’t speak English, but they’re eager to give good service. On our first visit, we ordered plum wine and the staff forgot to bring it. When we returned the next day and mentioned it to another staff member, she apologized right away and kindly served the wine with an extra complimentary dish.
