Otaru Shiosai

The fish was grilled beautifully, full of flavor, and incredibly delicious. It did have quite a few bones, but the taste made picking through them worthwhile. The ingredients seemed fresh and traditional, and the service was excellent. The location is great too, with parking out front. A lovely spot for a genuine local meal.

I really enjoyed my meal and would come back. The seafood was excellent and reasonably priced, and the staff were friendly. The first woman I spoke with knew decent English, and there’s an English menu. I had scallops, mackerel, and abalone, and they gave me extra scallops for free.

The owner and staff were so welcoming and nice. The restaurant is a bit far from Otaru canal and the center, but there’s a parking lot in front. The food is superb, really fresh and cooked well. Their grilled fish and scallop are especially on point. Definitely worth the trip.

We had a really enjoyable lunch here. The sashimi was great, and the seafood was fresh, well seasoned, and cooked just right. One set meal per person with some grilled seafood was plenty for us. While waiting in line, seeing and smelling the fish on the grill made us even more excited to eat. It’s a popular place, but we didn’t wait long for the food, and everything arrived quickly. The atmosphere is casual and lively, which added to the fun. Parking is conveniently across from the restaurant. A wonderful place for seafood in Japan, and I’d recommend it to travelers and locals alike.
