Biwako Hira Hotel

What I liked most was how quiet the hotel and its surroundings were. I could really shake off my travel fatigue there, though of course that may vary from person to person. The room was in good condition, and the pickup service to the station was excellent. I’d definitely come back. The downside for me was having to share the toilet and bathroom, so I took off a star, haha. If you want your own private space, it may not suit you. There aren’t any supermarkets or convenience stores near the hotel either, so I bought coffee in advance! Hope this helps, haha.

The Korean dinner was delicious, and the portions were generous. This place used to be a resort and is run by a very kind Korean owner. The bathroom and toilet are shared, but there weren’t many guests, so it didn’t bother me.

I came here wanting a proper rest, and the clean air, quiet, and nice water made it a great place to do that. I used to feel like a walking hospital, with chronic rhinitis and asthma, but during my stay I didn’t sneeze or cough once and slept soundly. I even came home with better skin. The staff are Korean, so there’s no language barrier for me, and they serve both Japanese and Korean food. I always want kimchi stew at the end of a trip, and they had it for dinner here. It’s clean and incredible value for money. I’d been keeping this place to myself and hoped to use it regularly, but it’s starting to appear on other hotel websites, so I’m finally writing a review. I hope it doesn’t get too well known. If you want to rest somewhere with fresh air, I highly recommend it.

My friend and I stayed here while traveling after being discharged from the military. The owners were incredibly kind, and everything was clean and comfortable. They provide lots of amenities, including yukatas to wear as pajamas, and the view is great. The mascot dog is super cute too. I don’t usually leave reviews, but their kindness made me want to write one. It was handy being able to get from the station to the accommodation at any time in the shuttle car. Public transport in Shiga Prefecture can be a bit inconvenient, so renting a car is an option for getting around. We couldn’t rent one because we didn’t have an international driver’s license. There’s a cozy bathhouse for relaxing after a day out, and I heard there’s also a swimming pool next door that’s open in summer. If you’re traveling around here, I highly recommend staying.
