The room was bigger than I expected, comfortable, and had a stunning view of Lake Biwa. Staff were welcoming and pleasant at check-in and checkout. I got there around 2 p.m., before check-in started at 3, so I had to wait a little, but it wasn’t a problem. I used the time to walk around the area. The location made it easy to get around. There’s a complimentary shuttle between the hotel and JR Otsu Station, Round1 is right next door, and groceries, convenience stores, and some sightseeing spots are within walking distance. miidera is about a 20 minute walk away. It’s a good base for exploring different parts of Lake Biwa while still having a peaceful mini staycation. I liked the firmer bed. I noticed mold on an extra pillow, but didn’t use it or ask for a replacement. I also tried the rotenburo. I’ve been to better ones, but this was still pretty nice and relaxing.

The views from our room were wonderful, and the Onsen was clean, spacious, and had a great view too. The staff were professional and friendly, and could speak English with guests like us. We had a great family stay. There’s plenty of parking, and the location makes a good base for exploring Shiga, with Kyoto not too far away. Keep up the great work, Biwako Hotel!

The hotel is very close to the cruise area and a bike rental spot, which makes for a great location. The room was large, with a sensational view. One downside was the strong stale smell in the corridor on the way to our room, which seeped inside and took a while to get used to. The Japanese restaurant was great, while the Italian one was just so-so. A tip: renting bikes directly from the hotel is more economical, and you pay for the whole day. A great deal!

I honestly can’t fault the view. It was mesmerizing, and sitting there felt like being on a cruise. The room was clean and a reasonable size, and the price was good. I was genuinely impressed.

I’m a returning customer, and this visit was another memorable one. We had a few issues bothering us after a few days, but once service manager Ms.Asako Terasawa heard about them, she came up with a wonderful solution that made our holiday much more enjoyable. Her attentive approach and the nice staff made a real difference. The lake view is stunning, the room was modern, and the service was excellent. I strongly recommend Biwako hotel.
