The front desk staff went out of their way to help me recover my bag after I accidentally left it, with my wallet and passport inside, at a restaurant overnight. In the morning, one staff member called the restaurant about six times and spoke with them in Japanese so nothing got mixed up. That helped me a lot. Staff were kind in general, and although they didn’t speak much English, Google Translate made communication easy enough. Check-in and checkout were very simple, and the hotel was impressively clean. We paid $59 USD per person per night because we booked through a travel company, and I thought it was worth the price. I’d stay again for sightseeing, but if the cost were the same, I’d look for a room of similar size closer to Shin-Fuji Station. I also noted a few very minor, random details that may be useful.

The rooftop view of Fuji is phenomenal. It’s also an easy walk to the train station and a karaoke bar. Service was very polite, and the room size was decent for the price, though the bed was hard and uncomfortable, and the bathroom door wouldn’t close properly.

The rooftop is a real highlight. Take the elevator to R and Mount Fuji is right there, large and clear with no obstruction. They only open a bar up there during summer. Inside, the triple room was clean and comfortable, with a good bed, pillow, and blanket. There wasn’t dust on the window, and the bathroom was spotless. Shampoo and bath soap were supplied, but no conditioner. They even had the cutest Halloween tissues. I didn’t expect much from the building’s exterior, but I was wrong. It’s the nicest, cleanest, most comfortable old-style hotel room I’ve had, just a few steps from the JR station. There’s a microwave too.

The people running the hotel were so warm and helpful. Even though I don’t speak Japanese, their staff made everything clear, and they gave me little gifts each day, including food and calendar souvenirs. Check-in is at 3 pm, which suited me, and the front desk stays open late. The rooms are roomy, the bed is incredibly comfortable, and for this area the location near the station and the price are hard to beat. I’d highly recommend it.
