I've stayed at this facility three times over the last ten years. It's really handy that they have all the cooking utensils you need. My one request would be to update the karaoke. Thanks.

The seasonal downside was the dozens of stink bugs. It also looked like work was being done on the thatched roof, with scaffolding set up. Still, the earthen floor, hearth, and thatched roof gave the place a fantastic atmosphere, and it was great overall.

It feels rustic and handmade, so it's probably best approached with a camping mindset. The house has dishes and BBQ gear, but guests need to clean up afterward, and paper containers could come in handy. There's a BBQ area, and because it rained, we were able to use the indoor dirt floor space. Pets are allowed there, but only in that dirt floor area. There’s no TV, Wi-Fi, or towels, so bring your own. Renting the whole house seems cheaper if you're coming with several large groups. The idea seems to be a traditional Japanese villa away from the city, but it's right beside a road, and the amount of traffic on this mountain road surprised me. Maybe it was just the timing, but chainsaw logging was incredibly loud from the morning.

It feels like a thatched-roof lodge, with no other buildings around, so making noise late into the night is no problem. The eight of us guys had a great time hanging out until late. There seems to be plenty of room for a family or two to three groups.
