I came to Ozu just to stay here, and I’m glad I did. The cats are wonderful, and you can read about each one in a room booklet, including their names, when the couple got them, and what they like or dislike. He clearly loves and cares for them. I spent almost two hours playing with and watching them in the main room after arriving. The owner gave me treats to feed them, and I think I saw every cat except the “rare one” mentioned in the booklet. There’s a roomy lounge area and a big manga collection you can browse. Little cat doors in each room door can be left open or closed, letting the cats wander in. Not many came into my room, but Hana-chan was the first to pop in, just as the booklet said, and a few visited the next morning, including a black cat who wanted water from my sink. The rooms are basic, but having a sink was nice. There wasn’t any hand soap at the bathroom sink, which was difficult for me. I’m not sure if all rooms are smoking or if I accidentally booked one, but I didn’t care for it. Luckily, the smell wasn’t too strong. There’s one bath on the floor for all the rooms, so it was hard to find a time to use it in the evening. The hotel is quite far from the station, and buses don’t come often. Still, several points of interest and good shopping are within walking distance. The owner kindly let me leave my bag after checkout so I could do some sightseeing. The place does smell strongly of cats, which I don’t mind, though people sensitive to that should know. I recommend it if you love cats, and I’m looking forward to visiting again.
