Once you're through the ticket counter, take your shoes off, and if you got the day pass from the ski resort, hand over the ticket so they can tear off the voucher. It's a great deal that way. After the bath, there's a room nearby with vending machines, manga, a small restaurant, and a gift shop. The changing area also has hair dryers and massage chairs. I came for a day soak after skiing. The onsen was clean and lovely, with a beautiful forest view. There are several options: reclining and regular baths, hot baths, a jacuzzi, a herbal bath, a sauna, a cold bath, and an outdoor bath. That outdoor one is open in winter, and I'd recommend it to first-timers since the cold air helps you manage your temperature compared with the steamy indoor baths. A wall separates the showers from the baths, so you can't see people showering before they enter the water. English help is limited, though there are instructions in English outside the baths. Nothing seemed too complicated, so most tourists should be able to manage.
