Kawada Onsen La pause Kawada

We were a big group, and they managed to fit everyone in. Staying at the homestay was a good way to try local food and Japanese hospitality, and sleep in the traditional Japanese style. The onsen was a nice experience too. We got lucky with the outdoor view, there were snow-covered mountains and trees. Having ice cream after the bath was the most memorable part for me. There are lots of vending machines inside. Bring a towel, or you can buy one at the counter.

It's a nice place.

This was my second stay here, and the quiet rooms made it easy to relax. I was really satisfied with the service and the high-quality hot springs, which helped me unwind from everyday fatigue. The stairs were a bit inconvenient, though, and it seems the two-room plan isn't offered anymore, which could disappoint families or groups. I'd happily stay again if I visit the area.

I went for the baths around 1 PM on a weekend in early April 26th, and it was busy with local people. The open-air bath has flowing spring water, and there are two indoor baths, a sauna, and a cold plunge. The water looked clear and colorless, with hardly any noticeable smell. I liked the outdoor area for cooling off after the sauna, and left feeling refreshed and energized.
