I had a peaceful, beautiful retreat here and would love to return. The modern building is thoughtfully designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows in the main living area looking out over the water. The guest bedrooms are on the small side, but very well equipped, and the beds were extremely comfortable.

Mitsu made the stay special. He’s kind, caring, involved, and helpful, and you can tell he puts a lot of thought into the details of his Hotel. The house is lovely outside and in, with a big, clean living area and kitchen plus a balcony looking out at the ocean. I had a spacious single room, and its bed was the most comfortable of my six weeks of travel. There are several clean, modern bathrooms and toilets, with all the basics. I also took the homemade breakfast for 500 Yen each day and could use the laundry for free. Getting around by public transport is especially easy for south and west Sado. The bus stop is under five minutes away, Lawson 24/7 is less than ten minutes on foot, and the bus from the ferry takes about 40 minutes. You can see and hear the ocean all the time. I liked Sado and the Guest Villa enough to extend my visit to four nights, and I wish I’d stayed longer. 10/10, I hope to come back soon.

The food downstairs would round out a stay nicely: it’s home-style cooking made with fully organic, local ingredients, and every dish is beautifully presented. The beachside accommodation itself has a modern, sophisticated look and seems like a great option for working remotely. The bedding, including the duvet and pillow, is as high quality as it gets. Their original blend coffee and herbal tea are marvelous.

I’ve stayed here twice, once for three nights and once for nine, combining travel and work, and it was amazing. The owner speaks English very well, and there are lots of restaurants nearby. It’s a spacious house-hotel with five rooms, a kitchen guests can use, and a large bathroom, with shared areas except for the bedrooms. I’ve never slept better in a hotel, and the bedding is the best I’ve seen in a Japanese hotel so far. Breakfast is available for 500 yen: a Western-style spread of bread, sausage, cereal, Island milk (so good!) and apple juice from the island. I even bought two bottles at the local market. The restaurant on the first floor is run by an amazing chef who spent years working in France’s Rhône area. You won’t be disappointed by the food. I’ll definitely go back!

The hosts were warm and quick to respond, and the modern place was comfortable. There’s a lovely view of the sea, and the food was delicious and nicely presented. I really recommend it.
