The hot spring was the one real plus for me. It was very good, and with so few guests I could relax in the old, small bath despite the limited number of washing spaces. The room and the facilities were very dated. The air conditioner and TV were new, but the futon was faded and the tatami worn. The National refrigerator was so old it didn’t cool anything. The place was so old there wasn’t much to say for the equipment overall. The breakfast looked impressive, but I found business hotel breakfasts in the Tokyo metropolitan area tastier and more plentiful. Even on a business plan, those hotels offer much better facilities and service. Since it’s a tourist destination, the accommodation costs are a bit high. I think over 80% of people from outside the prefecture would be dissatisfied if asked whether the quality was worth the price.

There were lots of manga volumes by the shop, including some nostalgic ones I enjoyed reading. The view from the room was great, but dinner felt a bit disappointing for the price, both in the limited choice and portion size. I’d probably stay overnight and eat at a nearby izakaya instead.

Lake Kamo is right in front, and the view is great. The inn is in Ryotsui, near Ryotsu Port and the downtown area. It’s been around a long time, so the lighting is a little dim. If you’re driving, the parking lot is a bit farther away rather than right beside the inn, and you have to get to it by going around a one-way street.

I slept really well in the spacious room, which had a lovely lake view. I stayed for two nights. The inn is older, but the food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The hot spring water felt wonderfully smooth and relaxing.

This place has an aging feel, which is hard to deny. Washlets aren’t common at inns on Sado, so I’d recommend it to someone who appreciates that kind of atmosphere.
