We took the free breakfast option, and it was really good and filling. The service was excellent. The hotel itself is quite old, but it has a homey, almost time-travel feel. The rooms are a decent size and have their own washroom, though you have to use shared facilities for the toilet and bath. Just be aware that the walls are thin, so footsteps and chatter carry.

The rooms on the second floor have great views, and the food is excellent for the price. The building has a charming, slightly old-fashioned feel, but warm, welcoming service makes it comfortable to stay here.

We picked this reasonably priced inn so we could focus on sightseeing around Sado, but the room was so comfortable that my companion joked we might as well skip sightseeing! (laughs) We stayed two nights during our summer trip. The building has a retro Showa-era look. I think it was founded in 1954. It's old, but very clean. As other reviews have said, the landlady's kind personality is one of the inn's best points. The meals might be a little small for younger guests, but they were more than enough for us middle-aged folks. We even had extra rice from the wooden container, and the staff explained which local ingredients were in the dishes, which made them taste even better. We each got one crab. It would've been handy to have a sink in the room or a toilet nearer the bathroom. Still, when we're used to having everything convenient, maybe there's something to appreciate in a few inconveniences. We had a good stay.
