Hotel Sunplaza Sakai

Good lah. Just a standard room, with free breakfast and an acceptable selection. There’s no parking at the hotel, but there is a car park nearby. Check-in is only available during limited hours.

The shared bath is large, and the hotel is good value despite feeling a little old. There’s no toilet or tub in the room, though, just a shared toilet in the hall. I stayed in a smoking room, so the smell may bother anyone who doesn’t smoke. The TV was only about 20-24 inches, closer to a computer monitor in size. My door clicked and shifted slightly whenever someone entered or left another room, which got a bit annoying. It’s roughly a five-minute walk from Sakai Station. Checkout is possible until 6:00 AM, with a return box at the desk, but from 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM you can’t get into the hotel without your room key, so don’t forget anything. Even if you park in the hotel lot, you have to leave your car key at reception, so you can’t use that parking. You’ll need a nearby coin parking lot instead.

The large public bath was genuinely spacious and comfortable, not just large in name. I stayed three nights with breakfast included. The rice was cooked nicely, and I also enjoyed the stewed hamburger steak.
