A fantastic meal with lots of different seafood sets to choose from. The Echizen crab is the main pick. There were plenty of ways it was prepared, and it all tasted great.

Even with the language barrier, I got to enjoy delicious sashimi and Echizen crab. Thanks to the boss.
The local Mikuni sweet shrimp were divine, and the crab gratin and Mikuni flounder were just as delicious. We skipped buying a whole crab and went for the rice bowl sets instead, which were amazing too. We were lucky to catch the last bit of crab season. Before dinner, we stopped at Sunset Beach to enjoy the magical views before the sun went down, then headed to Mikuni Inkyojo for crab and seafood. We left beneath a clear, starry sky. Best experience. Thank you!
The crab miso was the standout dish for me. The meal was expensive, but I was satisfied and didn’t have any unpleasant experiences there. I booked online at noon on the day I went, a Sunday evening. It was snowing heavily, so the restaurant was quiet, but the atmosphere was pleasant. At other quiet restaurants, I’ve sometimes heard staff chatting among themselves while there were few customers. That didn’t happen at Mikuni. A male staff member who seemed new impressed me with how attentively he worked to serve customers. I’m glad I made the trip despite the heavy snowfall. Lol
We ordered drinks as well, and the crab came surprisingly fast. I got a full portion and my partner had half, with half a serving of rice each. The portions were huge. We ate quietly, and time just flew by. I only wish the cutting shears had been a little bigger, since neither of us has much grip strength. I’d booked because I wanted to try tagged crab. At the restaurant I gave my name and was seated at the counter, then we confirmed the order. Several groups came without reservations, and a few were turned away, so booking ahead is essential. I’ll definitely reserve next time I’m in Fukui.
