The trip ended on a really bad note. After checkout, my boyfriend and I ate in the kitchen using the plates, then cleaned up well, though we didn't sort the rubbish properly. We stayed there talking with another guest for nearly an hour. Nobody had told us we couldn't use the kitchen after checkout, and I've spent time in hostel common areas after checkout elsewhere without anyone objecting. Maybe this is the rule here because the place is small, but it should be explained in advance. That evening the owner sent a long message demanding a 5,000 yen fine. When I said it seemed excessive, he threatened to call the police and accuse us of trespassing. This may be normal in Japan, but it isn't in Europe. I had a bad experience and wouldn't recommend this place to foreigners. It may suit Japanese guests, but it wasn't laid back at all.

The Korean couple were so kind and gave us great service as travelers. They kept the place clean, and the man was always around to suggest places to visit and good spots to eat. We could message anytime with questions and got replies, so it was easy to stay in touch. I really appreciate them and hope they always enjoy life. Thank you so much.

I spent three nights here in November, and even with the place full it stayed quiet. The room, bathroom, and shower room were all very clean. The couple who own it were kind and helpful, and breakfast at the cafe next door was delicious. There’s also a cozy barbecue area in the backyard. I hope I get to try it on a future stay.

We had a quiet, relaxing night and morning in the 4.5 tatami room. It's a cute, comfortable share house, with private rooms as well as dorm beds. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and spoke nearly fluent English. Both the second-floor shared toilet and the first-floor shared bath were clean and comfortable. The bath area also has a roomy space for getting dressed and doing laundry.

This is more of a base for days out than somewhere to lounge around. We spent the day exploring, then came back to make dinner and relax. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the grocery store is only a five-minute walk away. The owner and his girlfriend were extremely friendly and made me feel welcome. Yokai Street is just around the corner, and I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Sakaiminato.
