Takitei made us feel welcome from the start, greeting us with matcha tea and traditional sweets when we arrived. The main staff members were wonderful and kept going out of their way to help us. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, beautifully presented, and made with local ingredients like nodoguro and noto beef. They asked about dietary needs and preferences in advance and thoughtfully accommodated our special diet at every meal. We left each meal very full. The outdoor onsen had breathtaking views, and there was a waterfall in front of it. Our room came with a private indoor onsen, premium lounge access, a massage chair, and a traditional garden view, with koi fish visible through the glass floor. The quiet, relaxing setting made the 15-20 minute drive from the city center worthwhile. One of the best hotels we've stayed at, and we'd highly recommend Takitei. (by my son ZT)

We had a memorable, relaxing two-night stay at this authentic, high-end Japanese inn. We spent time at the onsens, foot spas, lounges, and reading rooms. The meals were very traditional, and the attentive, friendly staff gave us top-notch service.

We have stayed at quite a few onsen hotels around Japan, including Kahō in Niigata (Kaho, Niigata), ranked the number one onsen hotel in Japan by professionals. Still, Takitei is the most wonderful and memorable place we've ever stayed, and we'd love to return. The hospitality was second to none, the food stunning, and the garden and views breathtaking. **Location: 4/5** It's a little out of the way from attractions like Kenrokuen Garden (Kenrokuen Garden) and Higashi Chaya District (Higashi Chaya District), though you can get there by bus. I'd suggest spending 2-3 nights in the city center near Kanazawa Station first, then coming here for another two nights to relax. One night would feel rushed, since you'll want more time here. **Service: 5/5** When we got to the bus stop, a staff member and driver met us and kindly drove us to the hotel. The last stretch is steep and doesn't feel safe to walk. Around 6-7 staff members greeted us at the hotel. That might sound like a lot, but every one of them was friendly and professional. A woman who I think may have been a manager gave us the most detailed tour of the property we've ever had. Special thanks to Naoko (sorry if I spelled your name wrong 😅), who served breakfast and dinner on our second night. She explained every dish so nicely, and we had lovely conversations in English about travel and different countries. At many ryokans the staff can feel distant because of the formality, but she struck a lovely balance of warmth and professionalism. We also got little gifts, charms and chopsticks, for staying two nights. Such a thoughtful gesture. **Room: 5/5** We couldn't afford the specific room we first wanted, so we chose the “omakase” room option. We were delighted to get a beautiful room with a semi-outdoor private onsen, just as we'd hoped. It wasn't the largest room we've stayed in, but it was one of the most elegant and comfortable, and tastefully decorated throughout. We can't wait to try other room types next time. **Food: 5/5** We had the standard kaiseki on the first night and the upgraded plan on the second. Surprisingly, we preferred the standard course. We later learned the upgraded plan usually means more traditional dishes prepared in a more intricate way. The food was still excellent, just not entirely to our taste. Each meal had around nine courses, compared with the seven-course meals we've had elsewhere, so the dining was generous and nicely balanced. Every dish used seasonal ingredients and was cooked perfectly. One morning we even tried puffer fish (fugu) for breakfast, completely new and exciting for us. Takitei exceeded all our expectations with its service, rooms, and overall calm. It really captures the spirit of Japanese hospitality, and we can't wait to visit again!

The food, atmosphere, and onsen all left us very satisfied. The staff were kind and attentive, and everything went smoothly during our stay. It's a little far from the city center, but the quiet setting made it a great place to rest and unwind.

The free lounge and the whole atmosphere really stood out. The interior, facilities, and service were all excellent too. One of the best hotel or ryokan stays I’ve had in Japan.
