Idenoya Ryokan

I stopped by Mochizuki-juku early in the morning, while this inn was set to close at the end of May 2023. It's in a mountain post town, and the building has a distinctive historic feel. It was easy to imagine Kindaichi Kosuke appearing at any moment. The inn was closed, so I could only see the outside, but I still enjoyed looking around. I would have liked to see shoe locker number 10 by the entrance and the restroom too. Fans will know why. I'm not sure if overnight stays are possible, but if they are, keep in mind the building is old and not soundproofed, and small children aren't allowed. If you're lucky enough to stay, I hope you enjoy the movie atmosphere. This was one of the locations for the 1977 film The Inugami Family. In the movie, it appeared as the Nasu Hotel where Kindaichi Kosuke stayed.

This wooden inn has three stories and feels like a rare find. The meal served was sweetened carp. It's also the birthplace of the Japanese surname Mochizuki. Don't expect to bathe here, but you can go to the nearby hot springs first.

I've wanted to make a pilgrimage to this place for a long time because it's the inn where Kosuke Kindaichi stayed in "The Inugami Family." Built in the Taisho era, it feels like a must-see for fans. The owner was quiet, while his wife was very talkative, and I thought they were both wonderful. I'd like to stay next time.

I haven't stayed at Idenoya Ryokan, but it was where Ishizaka Koji stayed in "The Inugami Family." The owner told me the film crew noticed the three-story wooden building while looking for a location. He also shared lots of stories about the shoot, and the hallways display autographs from the cast and the author.
