Backpackers Hostel Ino's Place

After a long day hiking, the wooden feel of the place and the fragrant sheets were a real comfort. The other guests were quiet, too. It was my first hostel stay, and I had a great time. I’ll come back here when I’m in Sapporo again!

The owner was nice and spoke good English, and I liked the downstairs common room. But I was disappointed with the hostel overall. It feels dated, the beds are old, and the sleeping area is cramped and awkward. There weren’t any charging ports by the beds, and the weak room lighting made it hard to find my way around when I arrived. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and I wouldn’t return. Unfortunately, I’d booked four nights.

Check-in and check-out were easy, and the staff were nice. Still, I didn’t enjoy the stay and wouldn’t recommend it. We paid 24.000 yen for two nights for three people, with bunk beds in a private room, and the price didn’t match the service. The air conditioner barely worked, and we had to pay extra for it. It was loud, and the fans they’d installed were either very loud or barely cooled the room. Towels also cost extra to rent. We had to put on the sheets ourselves, and they didn’t fit the blankets. We didn’t use the blankets because there wasn’t enough cooling.

The living room was cozy, with Rubik's Cubes, books in Japanese and English, a TV, DVDs, and other ways to pass the time. There was no curfew, and tea and coffee were free. The kitchen was clean and well equipped if you want to cook, and the staff were friendly and could speak English. Prices were good, too. The beds were hard, though, and WiFi could slow down when a lot of people were using it. Laundry can add up because the dryer takes a long time and costs about ¥100 per 30 minutes.
