Around 7:00 AM on March 9, a staff member opened my room door, apparently assuming it was empty. My checkout wasn’t until 10:00 AM, and I was still inside. It startled me and made me uncomfortable, interrupted my rest, and left me feeling that my privacy hadn’t been respected. I hope staff check whether a guest is in the room before opening the door in future.

The staff really know fishing, so if you’re an angler or just starting to learn, this is a great place to stay on your next trip to Japan. It’s a distinctive spot a few train stops from Sapporo station, with convenience stores and a Yamato Transport center nearby to make travel easier. The closest station is a bit of a walk, about 10min in winter, but that felt reasonable and didn’t take away from the stay. The owner was friendly and very accommodating. It’s welcoming to foreign visitors, and I’d come back next time I’m in Hokkaido.

The hosts made the place feel fun and welcoming. They helped with luggage, tried to make me laugh, and even gave me manga recommendations. I’ll definitely return. The Sapporo bus stop is a 7m walk away, and the beer museum is about 30m on foot if you’re up for it.

Really pleasant place to stay, with amazing staff. They were very helpful and speak English very well. Thanks for the time there.

It felt cozy and warm inside, a real comfort during the cold winter nights we’ve been having. The place has an earthy, homey feel, with lovely wood covering the walls, and everything looks brand new. Sapporo is the setting, but this is a quiet spot away from the city noise. The owner was friendly, accommodating, and fluent in English. He knows a lot about the outdoors, and we chatted about fishing and skiing. There’s a cool cafe right behind the guest house, and I got a good coffee there. I was also offered a cup when I woke up. The shared first-floor lounge is a nice place to hang out with other guests and staff, with couches, a dining table, TV, Nintendo Switch, and minifridge. The bathrooms, showers, and sinks were spotless. Honestly, one of the coolest places I’ve stayed. I had a great time and will definitely come back. Really rad.
