Hotel JAL City Sapporo Nakajima Park

The room was a plus: it was spacious compared with typical Tokyo hotels, and our two twin beds had been joined together. But the housekeeping and the way a problem was handled left us very disappointed. The bed had a sheet, a mat between the sheet and mattress, and then the mattress. Late one evening, my wife noticed visible blood stains on the mat under an otherwise clean sheet. That felt unsanitary and unprofessional. I reported it to the front desk at about 11 PM. They said housekeeping was closed and the mat couldn't be changed until morning. It was replaced the next day, so the issue was eventually resolved, but we still had to sleep on the stained mat that night. The front desk could have changed it right away, but chose not to. We also tried breakfast one morning, though it wasn't included in our booking. It was advertised at 2,400 yen per person, but staff told us the price had gone up to 3,200 yen. The register still showed 2,400 yen, and the hotel website listed that same price when we checked it in front of staff. We were charged 3,200 yen each anyway. The pricing information needs to be kept clear and current. My wife and I stayed December 12-17. The room size was good, but the cleanliness issue and poor response to our concern had a real effect on the stay.
