Hotel Lifort Sapporo

For a quiet, restful vacation, I’d avoid this hotel. I spent two nights there and barely got any rest because the room carried noise constantly, from footsteps and banging to doors, conversations in the hall and nearby rooms, and housekeeping. It was really stressful.

Lawson is close by, and Susukino is an easy walk. The hotel is right across from Intercontinental and near an underground station, with one of the best prices around. The room was nice, with a compact bathtub.

The bed bounced and felt lumpy, and the lighting was awful throughout the room and bathroom. The bathroom itself was incredibly cramped. The drawers and other furnishings look about 20 years old, and there’s no AC. I know it’s a budget hotel, but 3.8 stars seems too high to me. I’d give it a firm 2.

The biggest problem was the bites I got at night. I believe they were bed bug bites, but the hotel simply denied there was a problem. The bed was so old I could feel every spring, and although the room had a non-smoking sign, there was a cigarette tray on the table and a smell of smoke. Some desk drawers were missing, too. The hotel is near a train station, but snow on the path hadn’t been cleared, so getting there with heavy luggage was impossible by train. I struggled on arrival and took a taxi when I left. I knew it was a budget place, but this was a very bad stay.
