Hotel MyStays Sapporo Station

We had a roomy setup with a kitchenette and lounge area, plus space to open large suitcases, though there were no luggage racks. The large window and balcony looked out toward the mountain. Breakfast was filling and delicious, and the staff were friendly and keen to help. The location was great for streetcars and parks.

This is a simple hotel with pleasant staff, and both the rooms and shared spaces were clean. The spacious rooms had two double or queen beds, a sofa, two couches, a coffee table, wardrobe, and writing desk, with plenty of room to walk around. The toilet and bath are separate. Toiletries such as facial wash and body lotion are self-service at the lobby, so there’s no need to call room service and wait for delivery. The moisturizer was a lifesaver in Sapporo's dry winter. Sapporo train station is about a 5-10 minute walk away. Across from the hotel there’s a Lawson convenience store and a MOS Burger, and the hotel’s ground-floor restaurant serves yakitori and other food. There are more dining options around the corner.

I've stayed at Mystays twice before, but this third visit was terrible despite the great location and breakfast. During self check-in, more than ten meal coupons and receipts printed out along with our room cards. I started sorting the receipts, and a short female staff member yelled from behind the plants and piles of luggage across the busy lobby. Maybe she wanted us to take the cards first, but she didn't make eye contact or come over to guide us, so how could I know she was speaking to me? She kept shouting more loudly and impatiently until we noticed, by which point the cards had been retracted. Then she made an impatient sound and face. It was rude and disrespectful to shout from a distance instead of coming over to help. Another, taller woman at the front desk was friendly, helped us check in, and apologized. The rude employee never apologized, greeted us, or showed a kind expression during the days that followed. We won't stay at this Mystays again.

The location was excellent, but one front desk employee completely spoiled our stay. While I was sorting through the check-in printouts, she shouted impatiently at us from across the lobby instead of coming over to help. She yelled, made rude sounds and faces, and never apologized. That behavior was unacceptable and showed a serious lack of courtesy and training on her part. We will not return.
