Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo

The breakfast combined Japanese and Western food, though I liked the Japanese choices much more. Staff were welcoming every time, and the rooms were great. The hotel is right by the station, which made getting around easy. Walking 25-35 minutes is a fairly short distance, but doing that several times a day over multiple days adds up if you're not taking the train each time. There are lots of good food options, and the university across the street has some of Sapporo's best milk products. Fantastic hotel.

The thing I appreciated most was how clean, comfortable, and well maintained the hotel felt. The design seemed carefully considered, the mattress and blankets were cozy, and I looked forward to coming back to the room each night. I stayed for 4D/3N after booking through the hotel's website. We arrived around 1:00 AM and check-in was seamless. Our twin room was a good size, with space to open at least two carry-on-sized suitcases. There was a long couch and plenty of table space for working or having tea while looking out at Sapporo's mountains. The shower and toilet were in separate rooms with doors, and a sliding door gave the bathroom area privacy when closed. The hotel is around a 5-10 minute walk from Sapporo station, possibly one of the closest hotels to it. You can walk above or below ground in snow or icy weather, and there's a konbini across the street. We didn't use the onsen, but the first-floor lounge was a pleasant place to socialize during the day or pick up coffee or tea to take back upstairs. The room has a fridge, while the microwave is in the second-floor common area. There are plenty of free storage lockers for check-out day, and we could leave our luggage until 23:00 in case our train or flight was later. The amenities included pajamas, slippers, toiletries, a tea kettle, coffee maker, and a charging cable with three different types of plugs. It felt like a high-end stay, and I'd definitely recommend Keio Prelia Hotel to visitors to Sapporo.

The staff were excellent and helpful throughout, and I'd stay here again if I wanted to be near the station. It's a handy base for day trips: about five minutes from Sapporo JR Station and connected to Daimaru, with 7/11 and Seico Mart across the road. Rooms are spacious by Japan standards and well kept. The sento was refreshing and large enough not to feel crowded, even at peak times. There are five washer-dryers plus two for women only, and the TV lets you check which ones are free. Wi-Fi was free and reasonably fast. I also saw snow toys available for children. My only small complaint is breakfast. The range was a little limited and mostly the same each day compared with other hotels I've stayed in. Otherwise, no complaints.

The hotel provides snow tools for guests to play outside, which was a nice touch. Rooms were standard Japanese quality, but the duvet and sheets felt oddly rough, and collecting water from the dispenser in the big cups they provide was inconvenient. A pitcher would have been better. It's a short walk from Sapporo Station North Exit, making it easy to take trains to Otaru or New Chitose airport, catch a day trip bus to Asahikawa, or take the shuttle to the Beer Museum.
