It’s hard to know how to rate this place. The location was decent, with an easy walk to a central area, but my first impression was the cigarette stench as soon as I opened the door. Past another door was a small, empty entry room; I had to somehow guess I should keep going, where an older woman demanded ¥3,000 without explaining why. I wouldn’t say the room was cleaned every day, and I found the traditional Japanese mats really uncomfortable to sleep on. The whole room smelled of gasoline on my first day. I couldn’t sleep and had a headache. Quite an experience.

You treated my autistic cousin Paul like a king. He’s so happy he stayed with you. Helping him build his snowman made his day and brought a huge smile to his face.

A small inn run by a couple, and they even make breakfast for guests. It has a home-like Japanese feel and works well for a small group. It’s not too far from the center.

It was hard to find, far from the stations and restaurants, and the reception area was messy. The host wasn’t welcoming, so this didn’t feel like a good place for a cultural or local hospitality experience.
