Urban Hotel Maruko Sapporo

Parking before and after the stay was convenient, and the front desk staff were very helpful. The price made me happy, so I’d use the place again if I get the chance. It’s less than a 20-minute walk from Sapporo Station, with a Lawson nearby. There’s no elevator, and the microwave is on the stair landing. It’s an old building, but it seemed well cleaned, and even the smoking rooms didn’t smell. Basic amenities were provided. Loungewear was on the landing, but maybe because the area was dim, I didn’t feel like using it. The modular bath was another drawback: even with the fan on, water covered the walls and floor. I also wish the toilet had a lid.

The first subway train ran late, which made it awkward getting to Sapporo Station for an early flight. Apart from that, the stay went well. I used a travel coupon and paid just under 2000 yen per night for three nights in Sapporo, which felt adequate for the price and fine for a room-only stay. Sapporo Station seemed far away when I arrived, so I took a taxi, but it turned out to be a surprisingly short drive. The next day, getting around by subway for sightseeing wasn’t a problem.

May 6, 2025 I came by motorcycle. Parking cost ¥1,100, the same as for a car, but the lot had a shutter, which I appreciated. The room did the job for one night. The Wi-Fi didn’t seem very fast.

The owner was really kind, and the price was reasonable. Though it’s a long way from Sapporo Station, it worked perfectly for my extended stay.
