The front desk staff were very helpful and used Pocketalk to translate Japanese into English so they could communicate with us. There’s also a self-serve corner with coffee and other drinks, free of charge. We stayed in a roomy premium twin, and everything was clean and tidy. The hotel is on the same street as Mitsukoshi, around a 10-15 minute walk or a taxi ride from the shopping area. We booked after seeing good comments about breakfast, and the Japanese-style buffet had all kinds of Japanese dishes.

The lobby is spacious, there’s coin-operated laundry, and the room was a decent size. Breakfast was great, with lots of choice and fresh ingredients. The hotel is near the train station, and I’d stay again.

The hotel refused, rather coldly, when we asked to leave our bags there overnight and have them sent to the airport the next day. Their luggage shipping service only covered checkout day. We were planning to spend one night in Otaru before going to the airport, so that didn’t work for us. The food is good and there’s plenty of choice, but the menu never changes. The tables are too close together because the breakfast is so popular, and the meal wasn’t a pleasant experience. Tourists from different places seemed anxious to get food and take pictures. The coffee wasn’t as good as convenience store coffee.

If you love breakfast, I’d recommend staying here. The hotel is very close to Nakajima Park and the Nakajima Kouen subway station exit, and not far from a conbini. There are welcome drinks and an amenity bar too. My room was clean and tidy. If your booking doesn’t include breakfast, I’d add it and give it a try. The sashimi was fresh, and the service was very good.

The subway is convenient, and the airport bus stop is right in front of the hotel. There’s no bottled water provided. Breakfast didn’t live up to its reputation for me. The grilled beef was so tough that I spat it out while eating.
