The welcome was great, and they let us store our luggage while we explored Huis Ten Bosch. The room was huge and the beds were comfortable. Check-out at 11 was handy, and I liked that the amenities included face-care products. The only drawback was the old toilet, with rust stains, and a shower that sprayed water all over the place. At least the water pressure was good.

We stayed for two nights in Feb 2026. The hotel is close to Hui Ten Bosch amusement park, about a 12-minute walk, and there’s coin laundry on-site for ¥300. There’s also a goat just outside the main entrance that you can feed in the morning. The room was relatively clean, but the hotel’s age really shows. By Japanese standards, our room was gigantic. It had two single beds and a large tatami area where you could set up two futons, which would be great as a space for toddlers or kids. The bathroom, though, was very small. I think they could have given it more room and made the bedroom a little smaller. It was old enough that there wasn’t a separate faucet for the tub and shower. Water came from the sink, and you had to switch a lever to send it to the tub. It also leaked. We booked an accessible twin room, but it definitely wasn’t accessible by ADA standards. The reception staff member who checked us in, Willey, wasn’t very personable or customer-service-oriented. I’m not sure if it was a language barrier, since the staff barely knew any English. He was timid and spoke so softly I could barely hear him. There’s also a mandatory “onsen” fee of ¥150 per person, per night, whether or not you use it. I found that rather like a cash grab, since it should only be charged to guests who actually use the onsen.

We stayed twice this week. The hotel is conveniently located near Houston bus station and the military housing base, with plenty of parking. The rooms were very clean, and the hotel staff were professional. There’s a convenience store right by the check-in desk, prices are very reasonable, and using a credit card was no problem. The surprise was the hot springs tax, which every guest has to pay at check-in. Make sure you have at least ¥300 per person.

I stayed for two nights at the end of 2019, and had two main problems: poor service and an old hotel. I booked a non-smoking room through a well-known online dealer, but was assigned a smoking room that smelled really bad. I called from the room to ask if there had been a mix-up, then went to the front desk with my reservation. The response was very rude, as if I were causing trouble. When I asked for an air purifier, they said they couldn’t help and told me to call the dealer I booked through. I’d lived in Japan for a while and was used to courteous service, so this made me sad. It left me feeling that Japan’s service had changed compared with the previous two years. The staff member I spoke to was a young man with glasses and curly hair, and might have been new to the job, so I don’t mean everyone was the same. The next day, another man brought an air purifier and air-freshening spray, apologized nicely, and said they would clean the room again more thoroughly to reduce the smell. The teapot was also very dirty, with lots of white stains. I didn’t want to touch it, though unfortunately I forgot to take a photo as evidence. It was a very unlucky two-night trip. I won’t return to this hotel or this area.

Right across from Huis Ten Bosch station and within walking distance of the theme park. There’s a restaurant on the first floor, and the prices are reasonable.
