Tetsuka Ryokan

We've returned several times for the family bath, which you can rent for an hour without booking a night. It's often quiet, and the service is great. The welcoming staff, relaxing hot spring, and soothing, stylish atmosphere make it an easy place to unwind. There are some nice souvenirs by reception, too.

There's not much to do around here, so it's a place to slow down and enjoy the onsen. The public bath is open to use, and you also get 50 minutes in a private one. I understand some rooms have their own private onsen, though we didn't try those. Dinner and breakfast were included, and both were fabulous. Staff were really friendly. It was one of the best parts of our Kagoshima trip. A bit pricey, but their attention to detail made it feel worthwhile.

Room 201 is just above the lobby, so we could get lobby Wi-Fi there, even though the rooms usually don't have it. We spent four memorable days at Tetsuka Ryokan, and the care started with a pickup from the bus stop and continued through our drop-off at the end. The staff noticed little things and looked after needs we hadn't even mentioned. The food was exquisite, mostly local, beautifully presented, and never repeated. We also loved the elegant public and private baths, especially the rock bath, and the relaxing little garden with its pond and beautiful Koi fish. The room was cozy, and the whole stay felt more personal and heartfelt than anywhere else we've been, even the Four Seasons or Pennisula hotel. Tetsuka Ryokan really deserves its reputation as a highly recommended Ryokan. Thank you!

The drinks were priced more reasonably than at any other Ryokan I've visited. We also really enjoyed the delicious, nicely presented food and the professional staff, who were attentive to guests' needs. It's a beautiful place, with modern Japanese décor, and we had a very, very good stay.
