The windows were smeared with fingerprints, and the room had a really strong cigarette smell. Since I don't smoke, it was miserable. I asked to move, but they said there were no rooms available. I was here on a business trip.

I booked because the price was low, but I won't come back. My usual places had gotten more expensive, so I felt I had no choice this time. The building felt very old, from the Showa-style reception to the dim hallways and the key with its long attached stick. My room was cramped, smelled like an old shed, and had dusty, cracked wallpaper. The bath was an old yellowish unit, and the toilet lever stayed down instead of returning. There is parking for about 20 cars, first come, first served. They had installed a new air conditioner.
The outlets and air-con controls beside the pillow were handy, and the staff at the desk were friendly without getting in the way. The place is old-fashioned, but it was clean enough that the age didn't bother me. It struck me again how unreliable reviews can be. Nothing was especially great, so I'd call it average. Maybe people who complain have stayed in too many pricey luxury hotels and compare everything to those?
The staff at reception were helpful, and I don't have anything to complain about. The building is old, as other people have said, but with the station nearby and the price, I think it's a pretty good deal. Wi-Fi is available, and the toilets have bidets.
The building has that dated Showa-era feel, and there's a noticeable smell in both the hallways and rooms that some people may not like. The rooms have basic amenities and work for a short stay, though anyone focused on comfort should keep the condition in mind. I needed somewhere at short notice for work and stayed at Business Hotel Matsui (Shinsayama). Getting there from the station was easy, check-in went smoothly, and there's a parking lot right beside it. For the money, it's decent.
