We had the place to ourselves, renting two rooms for our family of four, and it felt relaxed and homey. The staff were kind and polite at check-in and in the messages beforehand, which made me feel at ease. The room was clean. We spent time lounging, playing board games, picking books from the many shelves, and talking over drinks. Showers and toilets were clean, and towels and toothbrushes were provided, so pajamas were all we needed. We ate at a nearby horumon yakisoba restaurant, so we didn’t use the kitchen. We were told we could use the kitchen, fridge, and appliances. The refrigerator had frozen food and ice cream, with payment by putting money in a box for what you took. There were also highballs and chuhai, and the soft drinks were free, which was much appreciated. The shop has lots of handmade goods by local people and often holds its own events. I liked that it aims to connect with the local community and bring more life to the area. I heard it can be used as a workspace in the daytime, and hope more places like it open around the country. Next time I’ll bring friends. Thanks so much!

I visited in June 2025. The clean coworking space is right in front of Sayo Station and costs 500 yen per hour, with a self-service drink bar. It has Wi-Fi and power outlets, so it’s very convenient for a layover. You can apparently stay overnight too, though its main use is as a coworking space. Even the cat there seems to feel at ease.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and my laptop worked perfectly. I could use the kitchen and free drinks at my own pace, and the whole stay felt easy and relaxed. You can really feel the owner’s enthusiasm for making this a place where people in Sayo Town can gather. I’d like to use it again.

I’ll definitely come back. I stayed the night before returning home so I’d be ready to MC the annual Stargate event at the former Egawa Elementary School. I usually work in Osaka, and this coworking space matches the quality I’m used to there, while feeling even more relaxing. I was able to hold a meeting and stay overnight. It serves as an overnight coworking facility, a study room for students, a place for remote meetings, a community exchange space, a local product display, and a handmade shop. It works for one person or a large group, with lots of ways to enjoy it and plenty of room to grow as a community space. It’s easy to see why people come back. I hope visitors from Japan and abroad use it to experience Sayo Town, from the morning mist on Mt. Onabe to the wide sunflower fields and the giant ginkgo tree.

Even with nobody else around, the place felt cozier than a business hotel. Once I got used to being alone in a building that wasn’t home, it was a very comfortable stay, with facilities that were sufficient and well maintained. After check-in, the staff leave, and the building and room doors use remote controls. My room was an eight-tatami Japanese-style one on the second floor. It was getting cooler, but there was an electric carpet under the rice-cracker-like futon, plus a small TV on the desk. The stairs were very steep and gave me a nostalgic feeling. The bathroom had only a shower booth, but it was clean and well maintained, with a small heater in the dressing room. For a proper soak, it’d be best to drive to Star Resort. Downstairs, the event space has a kitchen, refrigerator, and commercial freezer stocked with drinks, frozen food, ice cream, and other things for purchase. The water dispenser is free, which was a thoughtful touch. I stayed alone for just one night.
