Tamachi Bukeyashiki Hotel

The hotel was clean and pleasant, and apart from one bad interaction, the service was excellent. Mominoki restaurant served excellent meals, with staff who were kind and considerate. The male night receptionist was kind too, but the female morning receptionist was not. After checkout, I needed to use my computer for urgent work. She told me to leave because the hotel’s cafe restaurant was only for people with lunch reservations and she said there was no room because it was too busy. We hadn’t seen other customers during our stay, and the hotel had been almost empty. I ended up taking a taxi to a train station to work on my PC for half an hour, which was inconvenient. It’s disappointing for the hotel to send checked-out guests away like that, and they should reflect on the practice. The receptionist seemed argumentative and ready to shut customers down. That really changed our impression of the hotel.

The room was small and the food was bad. You have to walk 3-4 minutes to use the public onsen outside, and it was a nightmare. For what it charged, I found it highly overrated, and the Jalan rating is definitely misleading. The only explanation I can think of is that they might have hired a different cook during peak season, such as the spring Sakura viewing period.

A very good hotel, with a nice room, good dinner and breakfast, and friendly service.

Our original room had been damaged by fire, so the hotel moved us to another room, refunded the difference, and even gave us a token card to use at the convenience store around the corner. The front desk staff apologized, and the room change didn’t get in the way of enjoying our stay. Excellent service, and I’d recommend this place.
