Hotel Metropolitan Sendai

The desk staff member who pointed me to some local ramen got it exactly right. I really appreciated the recommendation, and I’d definitely stay here again. The hotel connects to the train station, though finding your way through it can feel like a bit of a maze. I needed to work and asked for a larger room. Space expectations felt different from what I’m used to in the West, and the location was great.

The room was impressively spacious, very clean and well kept, making it a comfortable base for exploring Sendai. Check-in and checkout were quick and easy, and the staff were friendly. The hotel is right beside the train station, with convenient access to trains and nearby attractions. I had a wonderful two-night stay and would absolutely choose it again when I come back to Sendai.

The parking explanation took the longest and felt much more detailed than necessary. Clearer, shorter information would make check-in smoother. Asking about a possible upgrade also took quite a while, though we eventually got the details we needed. At reception, the woman wore a mask and spoke very quietly, so she was hard to understand. She seemed not to be Japanese, and we understand she may still be learning the job. With more practice and confidence, we think she could provide even better service.

The location was good, but we were assigned a smoking room by default and, as non-smokers, found the smell strong. That surprised us, since overseas a smoking room is usually something you request specially.
