Hotel Pearl City Sendai

I didn't choose this hotel, but my experience here was the worst I've had in any country. The washroom was foul and unhygienic. The shower curtains had mold or some kind of stain, and the toilet hadn't been cleaned: there was urine and toilet paper left by the previous guest. The smell made the room unbearable, and the problems made me feel completely unsafe. The hotel has apologized repeatedly over the past five months, yet nothing about how it operates has changed. Do not go here.

Our triple room was roomy and worth what we paid, and the staff were really friendly. They even had a shampoo bar where guests could try different shampoos. The hotel is a bit far from the main train station, so you'll need to take a bus or the subway.

The staff were brilliant, and the station is quite close. Even so, this was the grossest hotel I've ever stayed in. The whole building reeked of cigarette smoke, and everything was yellowed by it. The wallpaper was peeling, the carpet was dirty, and the technology was horribly out of date. I've stayed in much nicer places for far less. The last update seems to have been in the 80s, and you'd think management could have upgraded it at least once since then.

There are plenty of places to eat and a convenience store nearby, and the staff are kind. The price is inexpensive. The hotel is 1.3 km from Sendai station. Rooms are very old and not very nice, with dim lighting, and double rooms have semi-double beds. There's no view. An oven is available, and the lobby and cafeteria area are a decent size.
