The owners’ two young daughters made it especially hard for our girls to leave. They had a great time playing with them in the basement kids’ area, which has ping pong and a retro Nintendo. Upstairs, there were magazines, books, games, and vending machines for soft drinks and beer. The place felt more like a roomy, communal German or European pension than a typical hotel, run by a lovely couple. Our room, 302, had plenty of space, with the beds upstairs and a living area where we could relax, talk, and have a drink. It was spacious and had a nice view. The hinoki bath smelled beautiful and was a great place to unwind. Breakfast was brilliant: we chose from the set menu the night before, then had juice, coffee, cake, and even monin syrup for our coffee. Thanks for the hospitality. We’ll be back! 🙏🤙

Hero & Rika made this our best stay in Japan. They were warm, welcoming, kind, and helpful, and we’re hoping to return someday. B&B Forest Shima is beautiful and has a private onsen. The bed was extremely comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. They also kindly let us use the washing machine, which we really appreciated on a long trip. Thank you, Hero & Rika 🩷

We slept really well in a peaceful area, and would happily stay again. There aren’t any shops or restaurants nearby, so keep that in mind. The owners were kind and helpful, and we enjoyed the room, the beautiful wooden bath, and the playroom with table tennis and video games.

The hosts even had a printed list of restaurants for guests planning to eat dinner out, and Yokoyama Observatory, with its panoramic Shima bay views, is close by. We had a brilliant stay at this very spacious B&B run by a young couple. The common bath, kids’ area, and huge dining room were nice additions. Our room was simply but classily furnished, and the hinoki (cypress) bath in it was awesome. I’d definitely visit again.

This was my first stay, and it was a superb experience. The owner was right there at the front desk to welcome me and help with whatever I needed, which made it feel unlike a typical hotel. I’d never stayed somewhere that opened its kitchen so guests could cook their own food and wash their dishes. I’d definitely like to come back soon.
