Love & Peace Resort

I often come here on relaxing trips with friends, even though dogs are allowed too. I usually stay without meals, but there’s an induction stove and a big fridge in the room, so it’s easy to make something simple. The rooms are roomy and stylish, with a large ocean-view deck where you can watch the sea for hours. The stars look beautiful at night. The bathroom and toilet are separate and spacious, and upstairs there are tatami mats where you can unwind on a futon. The coast is pebbly rather than sandy, so it’s not suited to swimming, but the calm sea is lovely to look at even in summer. It’s a resort in the truest sense, where doing nothing feels like a luxury. I’ll be back!

At night I sat on the terrace, looking at the stars and listening to the waves. It felt like a real escape. The beach is also nice for a walk, and I’d recommend taking it easy there while watching the sunset. We brought our two dogs, and the receptionist was very kind. From the room the view was spectacular, and the facility was beautiful, with a spacious bathroom and amenities. The humans and the otters were both very happy. We’d planned to eat dinner in our room and weren’t expecting much, but opening the bento was a surprise. It was packed with four kinds of sashimi, octopus tempura with matcha salt, sea urchin tofu, squid with mentaiko, grilled shellfish with mayonnaise, steak with truffle salt and foie gras, eel, abalone with liver, simmered conger eel and octopus, and more. The variety was amazing for the price, and everything was so carefully seasoned and delicious that we forgot to take photos. I think drinkers and non-drinkers alike would enjoy it. The portions were generous, and getting food of that quality in your room is a real treat. Breakfast was delicious and filling too. Afterward, the staff drew our two otters and wrote us a message to go with our coffee. It warmed my heart. They’re planning to add more facilities on the grounds, so I’ll definitely come back. If I had one suggestion, a menu would make it easier to enjoy the delicious food even more, though I know that might be difficult.

There aren’t many hotels around Shima in Mie Prefecture, so this felt like a bit of a hidden gem. Our room was spotless and had an ocean view, and the food was both cheap and tasty. They also keep goats, which impressed me as a sign of how animal-friendly they are. For us, it was a wonderful bit of luxury. Personally, though, I could see it getting a little expensive for people with several pets, since dogs cost an extra 5,000 yen per day depending on how many you have. I hope the economy gets better soon.

I had lunch at BBQ HOUSE LA PALMA and was very happy with both the price and the food. The meal came with a seafood BBQ set, three kinds of oysters, a sushi roll with four fried shrimp, a drink, salad, dessert, clear soup, and rice. I’ll definitely go again!
