Hotel Shunka Ise-Shima Resort

This was my third visit with my beloved puppy-chieh, and each time we’ve come to celebrate her birthday. The staff called her by name throughout our stay. When they showed us a photo of my previous dog, they even remembered that dog’s name, which surprised and delighted me. She’s timid and growls, but everyone treated us kindly and attentively. The food was delicious as always, and I was very satisfied.

My Chihuahuas get excited and bark a lot, so even on my third stay I was worried about how things would go. The staff were so considerate and kind that I felt relieved. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious and beautifully presented, and I kept taking pictures. The grilled spiny lobster was fragrant and tasty. The building is a little old, but it has charm and is kept clean, making for a quiet, relaxing stay. I appreciated finding toilet sheets, bins for them, and foot-wiping towels in various spots, along with well-maintained bowls and playpens in the room. Some places charge a high pet fee but still feel unsanitary or don’t provide anything. Here there wasn’t any unpleasant smell in the room, which was a big plus. My dogs usually sniff around for a while when we arrive, but this time they just did one quick lap. I was told staff would be contacted in the middle of the night if there were an accident, so I think they take care to keep unpleasant smells from lingering. More than anything, it’s a place that makes me want to return again and again.

Our family of four stayed here for our little one’s first birthday, and it was such a lovely time. The staff calling our child by name made us really happy. The room worked well for both us and the kids, and the amenities for our little one were so good we could even come empty-handed. The food was delicious, and the children’s meals felt very luxurious. We plan to come back every year.

The food was so good that I finished both meals. This is a cozy, homey place where you can stay with your pet. At check-in, I learned there’s also a private bath where dogs can join you. I came on a recommendation from a sister hotel, and now I’ve found another place I’d like to visit again when I’m in the area.
