I only went for a day trip to the onsen. The dip was really nice, and the facilities were good. The outdoor rotenburo had clear water and no sulfur or other smell. They give a discount to bathers over 65!

The staff were friendly and patient with all my questions, and the room was super clean, with a view into the woods and plenty of privacy. The futon was very comfortable, and the temperature felt just right with the air conditioning. There’s a little fridge, a safe, and most of what you need in the bathroom. The onsen has a lot of options: an indoor freshwater hot pool and cold plunge, a semi-dry sauna, and an aromatic freshwater pool with bark, tea, and herbs. Outside, there’s a warm natural pool and a deck overlooking beautiful forest scenery.

The surrounding nature was lovely, and the location was great for star watching. The staff spoke the best English of anywhere on our whole trip. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer.

I only visited the Onsen, which cost around 660 yen, or 600 plus tax. There are two indoor baths and one outside. The outdoor bath is salty and looks out on the forest, and there’s also a sauna and a cold plunge pool. A perfect way to wrap up the day.

The hot spring was fantastic, and the sky was full of stars. A nice place to stay.
