The kitchen made it easy to avoid eating out the whole time we were in Shimoda, and the free bikes and surf equipment make the price worthwhile if you plan to use them. There was plenty of surf gear, so borrowing a set wasn’t a problem. Bikes were more limited, though. Only four were available, and they were often taken. The drawbacks were the single shower for seven rooms, some with three beds each, unless there are private bathrooms I don’t know about. Sometimes there wasn’t any hot water left. The sheet was basically a large towel and uncomfortable, and the weak soundproofing meant you could hear everything in the house.

I spent three nights here and hated having to leave. The owners and staff were so kind, they even gave me a ride to the station after checkout. The house felt homey, and everything was clean and in good condition. It’s a hilly area, but the free e-bike rental makes getting around easy. Thanks for everything.

The free surfboard and bicycle rentals were the highlight for us. We used them every day, and the short walk to the beach made this an ideal spot for an active trip. It was easy to find, too. The only snag was the Wi-Fi. The steps to connect weren’t clear, and it seemed like leaving a review might be part of getting the access code, which felt odd. Everything else was great, and I’d recommend the hotel to friends who like to stay active.

I happened to choose this hotel while traveling in the off season, and with nobody else around, the big place felt like my own home. I loved the beaches and nearby spots, and I think I’ll start coming regularly. The owner was so kind. On a rainy day he drove me to the train station and bought me a onigiri🍙. I was incredibly happy when I left. Thank you ♥️
