Kameya is my go-to little hideaway. I spend the New Year holidays there every year.

I found the inn quiet and homey, with that nice family-run feel, and got a peaceful rest there. I was touring by motorcycle, and my second-floor room in the main building faced south with a great view. The food was hearty and went really well with rice, sake, and peel. The boat-shaped platter was a treat, with lots of different fish. There aren't any convenience stores within walking distance, so pick up drinks and snacks before you arrive. The men's bath has room for three friends or two strangers to soak comfortably. The spring water is clear, a little salty, and has no smell. Hand towels are supplied, but bring your own bath towel. Getting there takes some care. There's a steep hill just before the inn. From the port, turn right and then left, and the climb gets steeper after that left. Miss the left and you'll end up in the parking lot of a large hotel. Cars coming downhill can make things awkward, so if you're riding with someone, it could help to have one person guide the other.
The owners and proprietress are wonderfully hospitable, and the meals come with plenty of local seafood. The mixed-spring water is excellent and warms you gently. For a guesthouse, both the washing area and bath are quite roomy. Getting up to the inn is the main challenge. It's at the top of a very steep hill, and low cars are likely to scrape underneath. With several cars parked, bigger vehicles such as an Alphard may have trouble turning around. If you're not sure, take a look at the route ahead of time. I also uploaded a video of the slope for reference.
The building's old, but the toilet and bathroom were clean. The staff were kind, the food was good, and the sea was close by. Nice view from the window, too.
The owners were both so kind that I'd happily return. The view was great, and the food was delicious. That boat-shaped platter was a real highlight. I added spiny lobster, then had the head in miso soup the next morning. So good. 😊 The road up is pretty steep, though it should be fine by car.
