Welcome Inn Sunny Steps

We had sashimi that was probably caught that morning, along with boiled golden-eyed snapper. It was all amazingly delicious. The room's ocean view, the sky framed by the skylight, and the attached open-air bath were gorgeous. Staying with our dog was possible, the price was reasonable, and both the view and food made it excellent value. Soaking there felt like a great way to shake off the fatigue of city life.

We stayed two nights, and the owner was very nice. It's quiet, and despite allowing dogs, there's no smell at all. The sea bream came prepared two ways, Western-style and Japanese-style simmered, and the rice was delicious too. The sea is close, so we took our dog for walks. It took about an hour from Izu Kogen, making it a good location if you're visiting Shimoda or Kawazu with your dog.

The food portions were huge, and everything tasted great, from the boat-shaped platter and boiled fish to the angelica tree tempura. The presentation felt a bit like what you'd expect at a guesthouse. You can order spiny lobster and abalone as extras. The starry sky was beautiful, and I definitely recommend taking a look. It's also an easy walk to the ocean, and I had a really relaxing stay. The inn is one block off the national highway, so it's very quiet, and the inside was spotless. It was hot and there were lots of bugs, though. Ants got into the guest room's open-air bath and were a nuisance. The owner sprayed insecticide, which calmed things down.

The alfonsino was really tasty, and both the open-air bath and the private bath attached to the room were great. We stayed three nights with our dogs. It was quiet and we could properly relax.
